Q1. What are the requirements for selling ROK?
A1. HP ROK must be sold with a new ProLiant server, the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) must be affixed to the new ProLiant server, and the media and documentation must be left with the customer. ROK cannot be sold as a standalone operating system.

Q2. What is new with Windows Server 2008 ROK?
A2. Windows Server 2008 will include both 32-bit and x64 DVD media. In order to help reduce and prevent unlicensed and illegal acquisitions of Windows Server operating systems, Windows Server 2008 ROK now requires product key installation and product activation directly with Microsoft. Product activation is an easy process by activating online or calling Microsoft. Please follow instructions after installation for activation.

Q3. How do I sell Datacenter 2P ROK?
A3. Datacenter 2P ROK must be sold with a 2P server hardware. If the server includes more than 2P, an additional Datacenter 2P ROK must be sold with each 2P option.

Q4. Which servers are supported with ROK?
A4. ROK can be sold with any supported HP ProLiant server and HP BladeSystems. For information on Windows operating system and ProLiant server compatibility, visit www.hp.com/go/windowscert.

Q5. Can customers buy additional CALs?
A4. Customers can purchase additional CALs from HP at 800-277-8988 in U.S, or through their reseller.

Q6. Who is responsible for loading the operating system?
A6. Resellers can pre-installed the Windows OS on the HP ProLiant server upon customer request.

Q7. Does ROK include downgrade rights?
A7. Yes, HP Reseller Option Kits include downgrade rights as specified in the product End User License Agreement.

Q8. Can my customers transfer the ROK operating systems to another ProLiant server?
A8. Yes. Customers can transfer their Windows operating system to another server by purchasing Software Assurance within 90 days of purchase. To purchase Software Assurance from HP visit www.hp.com/software/slms.

Q9. How does ROK compare to Microsoft Open Licensing? When would I choose HP ROK versus the Microsoft Open License?
A9. Microsoft Open Licensing is designed for medium-sized companies which make frequent IT investments, and upgrade software on a different lifecycle than hardware. For these companies, over time, Open Licensing can offer savings plus more flexible software acquisition and usage. However, for smaller companies that do less frequent IT investments, and which upgrade hardware and software in synch, Open Licensing can be too much paperwork and initial cost, for too little benefit. For these companies, ROK is an ideal solution: simple to buy, great pricing regardless of quantity purchased, plus one-phone call for hardware/software support from HP (for them or their reseller partner.)

Q10. Will I receive Microsoft Partner Points by selling ROK?
A10. Yes. A new program by which resellers can receive Microsoft Partner Points for selling ROK began in March 2008. This program has started only with a few countries and will complete its rollout by end of the second half of 2008. Please contact your distributor if they qualify for receiving these partner points.

A1. For the first 90-days of purchase, customers can call HP for both operating system and server support for installation and configuration support. This includes
• How-to, first steps and prerequisites
• Setting up and configuring software (customization and network configuration)
• Interpreting system error messages
• Isolating system problems with software usage
• Obtaining ProLiant value-add support software

Resellers can provide additional services for the customer beyond the 90-day support window.
